Welcome to Wolcott Land Owners Protective Association (WLOPA)

WLOPA is a friendly shooting club nestled in 54 acres of beautiful Wolcott, CT.  We offer organized and informal trap and skeet shooting, pistol and rifle shooting, air rifle shooting, and hunting.  We conduct onsite pistol permit training courses, personalized handgun and rifle training, and we host many community events.  We are located at 920 Woodtick Road, Wolcott, CT  06716, telephone number is:  203-879-9976.

Our next monthly meeting is Friday, September 5th, 7pm.  Monthly meetings are the first Friday of the month.  Our Annual Meeting is September 12th.

Need a Pistol Permit?  The next Pistol Permit Class will be on September 6th.  Here is how to resister:  to pre-register, click the Pistol Permit bar on the left under "MainMenu" for instructions.  The class fee is $110 and includes lunch--we're the only organization that provides lunch with the class.  Shooting is done on our premises.  Classes start at 9am.  Note:  this is the last pistol permit class until the fall, so if you know anyone who wants their pistol permit, tell them about this class.

Pick up your brass and your shotgun shells, and please dispose of them in the designated pails.  Make sure NO LIVE ROUNDS are thrown in the pails.  Live rounds or misfires must be thrown in the RED container marked "Duds Only".  The brass belongs to the club and is not to be taken off premises.

If anyone is interested in Archery, please contact Mike Conant at mconant51@gmail.com.

New Ammunition Purchase Rules:

There are new state regulations in place regarding the purchase of ammunition.  You need to furnish us with one of the below permits/certificates to buy ammo from us.  Here is the information from the State of CT website:

Past WLOPA events:

We held our Annual Breast Cancer Shoot on July 19th and it was a success.  Thanks to all who helped, especially for Frank Noble and his team for running this event.  There were several squads and money was raised for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and for local emergency relief.  There were great bucket raffle prizes and a silent auction featuring a Duck Commander Mossberg long gun.  Several businesses contributed prizes and we appreciate all that the local businesses did to support this event.

There was a Defensive Driving Course given by club member Bill Howard from AAA.  Thanks to Bill for spending the time for this class.

The Annual Friends of NRA Dinner at the Aqua Turf was a great time and WLOPA had four tables in support of this event.

What fun we had at our two Christmas holiday events, our annual WLOPA Christmas party for members followed by our community event Christmas Party for special needs children and adults.  Thanks to everyone who helped at both parties.

We held our Annual Meeting on Sept. 13th, 2013 to elect officers and board members.  The President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary remained the same.  A new board member was elected, Doug Locke, replacing Bill Cuttler.

We ran another raffle June 29th to help pay for general repairs.  This time we raffled off several different types of ammo and it was a very successful raffle.  Winners will be posted here soon.

We ran our annual gun raffle on May 26th to help pay for expansion at the rifle range.  The winners were:

1st prize Ticket # 0076 James Dummitt Seymour, Ct
2nd Prize Ticket # 0085 Malaura Pannoni Bristol, Ct
3rd Prize Ticket # 0393 Bob Warbots Bristol, Ct
4th Prize Ticket # 0255 George Garner Bristol, Ct
5th Prize Ticket # 0406 Mike Fusco Torrington, Ct
6th Prize Ticket # 0178 Anthony Bracco Wolcott, Ct

We ran a 2nd Amendment petition drive that was signed by almost 1,000 2nd Amendment supporters.  The petition was sent to all legislators in Hartford and to our delegation in Washington.

Several WLOPA members attended the January 19, 2013 national "Gun Appreciation Day" at the Capital in Hartford.  There were many speakers and it was great to rally alongside 1,000+ other 2nd Amendment supporters.
